In the middle of a busy pedestrian precinct, time suddenly stands still for Yuji Sakai, and monsters start devouring the people around him. He’s rescued by a girl with flaming red hair and a blazing blade – a Flame Haze. From her, Yuji learns that he himself has long been nothing more than a “Torch”, a placeholder that is slowly burning out. But instead of giving up, he fights from then on at the side of the girl he names Shana.
Volume 1 kicks off the first season: Yuji is drawn into the battle between the Flame Haze and the Guze no Tomogara, who come from a parallel world and consume the very existence of humans. The first season comprises 24 episodes.
